Jeremy Corbyn is the Future of Britain, and his Movement will be the Future for Humankind

British politics and the state of our country is nothing short of appalling, relative to our wealth we appear to be living in some sort of warped dystopian future where it is acceptable that the rich can pay no taxes whilst the poor struggle to survive. We have gone through six years of ideologically fuelled austerity, we are selling off all our publicly paid for services to the Tories wealthy mates, hundreds of thousands of people are being forced to use food banks, Inequality is at a record high, we are seeing what is left of our rights being ripped away by this Tory government, and we can do absolutely nothing about it. The sense of powerlessness is pretty dam overwhelming. 

First of all, we need to identify why the right of the labour party are part of the problem. It appears to be more and more obvious that the liberal media / current political spheres have no real understanding of the true antagonisms in today’s society, and it becomes pretty tedious to argue against all these “well educated” liberals, who do nothing but talk down to you with a bunch of neoclassical economics and tell us that “there is no alternative” or “things aren’t that bad”. For me personally, in the recent past I have fallen victim to devaluing myself and my opinions because they don’t fit in with the current conventional wisdom. But the more I read, and the more these sorts of events, such as Brexit, Trump, and the rise of Corbyn / Sanders happen, the less the political narrative is able to convince.

Neoliberalism has dominated British politics since the 1970’s, and it still dominates politics now. The current right of the labour party, or “Blairites” or whatever you want to call them, are looking to solve societies problems within the parameters of this ideology. Which to put it bluntly is relying on business and the market to come to the rescue and save the country. Whether or not they happen to believe this, or are simply getting rich and laying the foundations for future careers, is kind of irrelevant. What matters is that there is no answer to the current economic crisis within the scope of this strand of thought. 

I mean the argument for privatisation in 2016, what really is it? Do people really believe that only the market can lead to an efficiently ran service? And that the market can only provide innovation and progression? It seems fairly obvious that the major contradiction in privatisation vs publicly ran services is profit. Despite all the reasons they tell you we need to privatise our services, the underlying reason that someone like Richard Branson would want to own our rail network is for profit. Profit comes from one of two places, the consumer, or the worker. Now handing off all our services to a group of people that pursues an ideology that needs to get profit at the expense of the worker and consumer, isn’t going to have a beneficial outcome for either. So already it’s clear that privatisation will not have a beneficial outcome for the people using or providing the services, so what are the other reasons? Innovation and efficiency? Implying the market is the only way to provide an efficient service is ridiculous, there is nothing that current technology cannot do in the sense of planning, that can only arise from the market. Simply monitoring consumption is all that is needed to make projections. As for innovation, just imagine what a team of maybe 10-20 people could do if they were hired for the sole purpose of creating a service which is cheap and beneficial for everyone using it, do people honestly think this is how the market drives innovation?  Capitalism does one thing, accumulates capital and reproduce itself, it will do this at the expense of anything and anyone. 

I think the major problem in today’s politics is that we no longer have democracy, we have an oligopoly of people who either don’t give a shit about normal people, or have no idea of the desperate state of our country and economy. Personally I think it’s the first option, but regardless, the past 8 years has shown that this class of people are incapable of responding to the crisis in a way that normal people don’t suffer at the expense of the rich. Because that part is no longer questionable, it is simply what has happened.

This is where Jeremy Corbyn comes in. He is literally the only person who addresses the true contradiction in society today, and that is capital vs people. There is not a single party other than maybe the greens who if elected would move outside of the current neoliberal paradigm, and moving out of the current paradigm is literally the ONLY way to fix the current problems in our society. We have to remember that Neoliberalism supports the side of the corporations, the bankers, big business. You literally cannot be on the side of those institutions and represent the interest of the people, it is not possible.

Moving forward, the Corbyn / Sanders movements are the only path to a none dystopian future, and that isn’t me being dramatic, it is just hard facts. The pursuit of profit isn’t going to solve climate change, it isn’t going to solve the refugee crisis, it isn’t going to stop war, it isn’t going to stop terrorism, it isn’t going to stop rising inequality, it isn’t going to stop homelessness, and it isn’t going to stop any of the other problems that it is in some way responsible for in society. This is why when I talk to people who don’t like Corbyn, I simply ask “why?”. The responses are all the same; “he is unelectable”, “he can’t be trusted with the economy”, “he is too soft on immigration” and a whole variety of other reasons. However what people fail to realise is these are all reasons within the current paradigm of neoliberalism, and to be honest, nobody could run for any seriously political position on Jeremy’s platform and not get the exact same treatment he has received in the media, which paradoxically fuels the self-fulfilling prophecy of his “unelectablitlity”. 

What the current liberals fail to understand is that the current political establishment, and its mechanisms it has in place to stop anyone like Jeremy Corbyn coming to power, is handing over Brexit to the likes of the Tories, and Donald Trump to America. They seem unwilling to accept that their ideology is failing to the point where people are becoming so disillusioned that Trump and Brexit are the sensible choices. As I have said many times, the left liberals need to join Corbyn, and the liberals on the right need to join the Tories. Anything short of that will lead to a UKIP Tory coalition in 2020. 

Jeremy Corbyn has stepped outside of the current political paradigm, and he has stud up for people that haven’t been represented in nearly 40 years, and for that I am forever grateful. The amount of courage it must have taken to stand up to the whole political establishment and the elite class, whilst not once showing any sign of weakness or hesitation is nothing short of heroic. The space that Corbyn has helped create for a true progressive may change the discourse of our nation, and quite frankly the right of the party should be ashamed of themselves. The constant sabotage of Jeremy Corbyn is a last ditch spineless attempt to put a lid on his movement, and in the mean time they are fuelling fascism and handing off our country to the far right. Right now it appears obvious that these snakes are doing nothing but trying to discredit and hinder Jeremy’s courageous movement, and if they refuse to get on board, they should be shown the same ruthless disregard for the rules that thousands of Labour members were shown during the past two leadership elections.

One thing is for sure, the current events in America have shown that we all have one of three choices; Socialism, Fascism, or more of the same.  Only one of those options has the answer to the problems we face today, and the only thing we have to do is try and get their before it’s too late. The election of Donald Trump has proven that with support our elected leader could do address these problems, and this is what scares the shit out of the establishment. It appears Trump will just be more of the same, but it’s important to realise that the only reason the political establishment was flipping out so uncontrollably was because they are losing their grip on the people, and with the power of solidarity behind a progressive movement, they don’t stand a chance.
